The FlangeKan

The FlangeKan, a device that fits over flanges and is secured with a soft-seal to the pipe can be used in above and below ground applications.

• Designed for the harshest environments of underground leak containment in Canadas oil-pipeline industry, this device can be used in all global environments from well below freezing to hot desert climates.
• Paired with OilPaw Leak Detection Sensors, integrated into your existing company infrastructure, or as a stand alone unit, the FlangeKan is your answer for flange leak detection technology.
• Small flange leaks are contained inside the FlangeKan, mitigating against expensive environmental damage.
• Avoid the expensive process of excavating buried flanges to investigate potential leaks and to perform visual inspections: simply view buried flanges from the surface using the access port.

Specifications & Details

The FlangeKan is available for pipes from 6” to >30“. With a wall thickness of ½” and weighing 56kg (125lbs) The FlangeKan holds 250 liters of liquid, based on a 24” pipe size. Built to easily withstand the pressure and environmental strain of underground installations, while maintaining an acceptable “soft-seal” on the pipe.

The polymer blend of The FlangeKan has a UV additive to it, and life expectancy in direct sunlight exceeds 15 years. Underground installations last indefinitely. The non-static composition of the materials in The FlangeKan makes it inherently intrinsically safe and OilPaw Intrinsically Safe Sensors can be installed into The FlangeKan for hydrocarbon leak sensing in Hazardous Areas.

The material of The FlangeKan is non-combustible in solid form. It has a melt point that ranges from 180-200 degrees. In the unlikely case of a local fire, the product will simply melt quickly to allow fire prevention efforts to be more successful.
